Pharmacy Practice in Focus: Health Systems is a bimonthly peer-reviewed journal focused on the field of health-system pharmacy practice, with coverage of relevant news, research, conferences, and discussions. The journal is interested in receiving manuscripts for peer review on a variety of topics, including qualitative and/or quantitative impact of pharmacist-led initiatives, clinical pharmacy services and patient outcomes, patient cases exemplifying pharmacist’s value on the patient care team, drug dosing and protocols relevant to health-system pharmacy, and transitions of care implementation. For a full list of topics of interest, see our call for papers.
The publication launched the peer review process for the journal in 2024, at which time the journal was renamed from Pharmacy Times Health-System Edition to Pharmacy Practice in Focus: Health Systems. This was not the first name change in the publication’s history, as the publication was previously named Directions in Health-System Pharmacy before the name was changed in 2021.
The publication takes guidance from the editor-in-chief, Curtis E. Haas, PharmD, FCCP, and the associate editor, Jacinda Abdul-Mutakabbir, PharmD, MPH, AAHIVP, as well as the editorial advisory board for the publication. Board members support the peer review process for the publication, provide insight on trends in the field, recommend areas and topics of interest for the publication, as well as connect the publication with active pharmacy opinion leaders who can contribute to the journal.
